From Invasive to Immersive language
A series of thoughts on Immersive Design
Chapter I.
Contemporary: A Limitless Definition?
The main focus of this website, of these entries, revolves around Contemporary Design. But what is contemporary design?
Do we define “contemporary” as something that is happening at the very moment we are researching and designing? Or do we have to go and analyze the past, the so-called “Contemporary Age”, from the beginning of the 19th century?
Is innovation something contemporary, or a mix between present and future times?

“The time has come,” the walrus said, “to talk of many things: Of shoes and ships – and sealing wax – of cabbages and kings”
“Through the Looking Glass” L. Carroll.
Throughout these entries, we will go backwards and forwards in time, but with the aim of proposing solutions for the near future. In the next few episodes, so to speak, we will focus on the Contemporary Era, diagnosing a present problem in nowadays societies: the boom of visual information around us and how the language is applied to the new technologies.
With this in our minds, we will establish the idea of it in the near future, through hypothesis and speculation, how we could see this problem evolving. As these probable situations are settled, we will conduct research from the very beginning of History to present times, through different arts and technologies, that will allow us to arrive at the objectives themselves. This is, by the analysis of the immersive languages and visual structures, as well as the use of information in our daily lives, to propose a model that shows us how the reality of design and information could be, in the field of Design Fiction.
