SmartCity Congress Interactive Wall

Cellnex – November 2018

CREATIVE DIRECTION – CONCEPTING –  STORYTELLING – MOTION DESIGN – TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

For the 2018 Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, one of the world’s largest smart city events, Cellnex Telecom asked us to turn their stand into a real experience. As Executive Creative Director at Visyon/Mediapro, I led the concept and visual direction for a 12m² interactive wall, video-mapped with 9 stories exploring the possibilities of smart cities.

Scripting a Wall That Talks Back

The brief called for something big, literally. We proposed a fully illustrated interactive wall, 12 square meters, where 9 video-mapped stories would play out across different zones. As Executive Creative Director, I led the script and the wireframes for the wall from the start, working out where each interactive trigger would sit and how the different screening areas could run side by side without stepping on each other. Every story had its own zone, with a trigger that set off the action right where visitors stood, turning the wall into something people activated rather than just watched.

Building a Visual world from scratch

Beyond the stories themselves, I directed the full visual system behind the wall: isometric vehicles, urban elements, citizens, and an icon set that tied the wall, its virtual citizens, and the real audience together into one coherent world. As Motion Graphic Artist, I also worked hands-on animating several of the pieces myself. The wall became one of the most photographed stands at the congress and drew international press coverage. It landed well enough that Cellnex brought us back for the 2019 edition, where I again led the creative direction on an expanded version with new stories and content.
